Puddlemere United had been slightly edging out their competition when Chudley Cannons seeker Heather ’11 returned with the snitch in hand, winning the game for her team, 200 points to 70.

The Harry Potter Club hosted their fourth annual Quidditch match on Booth Field during lunch Feb. 3 as part of Fitness Week.

Players, consisting of both club members and non-members, were divided into two teams, named after two British Quidditch League teams from the book. Just as in the series, all players ran with broomsticks, chasers scored points by throwing the quaffle into a goal hoop and seekers sought after the snitch: Jewels ’11, dressed in gold leggings and fairy wings.

Harry Potter Club co-president Yael ’11 said this was the first time Quidditch was an official Fitness Week activity.

“It added legitimacy and much more promotion to the game,” Yael said.

The teams duked it out on the field with strong offensive plays, keeping the score even for the first two thirds of the game. Halfway through, the Chudley Cannons called a timeout to switch up their line-up, allowing Puddlemere United to later score two goals, leading the game 70-50. Soon after, Heather returned with the snitch, adding 150 points to her team’s score and ending the game.

Heather said that after chasing the snitch down the hall, she developed a strategy to finally capture it.

“I lagged behind a bit to give [Jewels] a sense of false security. Then I followed her into the College Counseling Office, where I found her under Mr. Heeter’s desk,” she said.

Despite her team’s loss, Puddlemere United beater Phoebe ’12 said that the teams were evenly matched and she enjoyed the game.

“I felt like the game went really well,” she said. “We had really good strategy and defense and the most points in the field, but ultimately they caught the snitch. I look forward to next year’s game.”
