For the International Day of the Girl, the Young Alumnae Council, made of alumnae who have graduated in the last 20 years, hosted a breakfast for all students on Wednesday Oct. 11th. The Young Alumnae Council reached out to Girls Go Global, a women’s rights and advocacy club on campus, to organize the event to celebrate the International Day of the Girl.

The Associate Director of Alumnae Relations Julianna Arnold said she thought the event helped alumnae interact with current students to celebrate a holiday that aligns with the school’s ideals.

“[International Day of the Girl] really speaks true to what Marlborough is really about…I thought it would be nice to have something to celebrate, something to bring people together with a common cause,” Arnold said.

The breakfast, which included hot chocolate and cinnamon buns, with the Young Alumnae Council was held on the morning of the PSAT.

Dorrit ’19, one of the Co-Presidents of Girls Go Global, said she was happy the Young Alumnae Council reached out to the club to celebrate the International Day of the Girl.

“We were worried [International Day of the Girl] would go unrecognized due to it landing on the day of the PSAT, so we were very appreciative that the alumnae council thought of a fun way to celebrate it and that they let us help!” Dorrit said.
