Could This Be Your Dream Come True?

Ever since I was little, I can remember my mom, sisters and I standing around the kitchen counter breaking up chocolate, singing songs, and laughing hysterically. Out of context, these activities seem rather disjointed or confusing. However, when put together, they signify an activity that is so close to my heart: making our Karic family dream bars. Full of magical deliciousness, including three different types of chocolate, butter, graham cracker crumbs, and condensed milk, these bars completely live up to their name. Below is the recipe to replicate this mouthwatering delicacy:

Line a 10” x 15” jelly roll pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

6 ounces bittersweet chocolate*

6 ounces milk chocolate*

6 ounces white chocolate*

12 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cups cinnamon graham cracker crumbs (can use regular crumbs, too)

1 1/3 cups shredded coconut (I go light on the coconut…it’s really just for taste)

3 cups whole pecans

15 ounces sweetened condensed milk

*Lindt chocolate is ideal

Break apart chocolate and set aside. Put butter in jelly roll pan and place in preheated oven until melted. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs over the butter and mix with spatula. Sprinkle coconut on top. Chop 2 cups pecans and scatter over coconut. Next layer, scatter chocolate over pecans. Evenly pour on condensed milk. Set in 1 cup of pecan halves. Bake 10 minutes. Press nuts into melted chocolate. Bake for another 20-20 minutes or until milk bubbles form and turns golden brown. Take out of the oven and enjoy your little taste of heaven!
