Performing Arts Instructor Mpambo Wina is widely considered a style icon on campus. She describes her style as classical and individual with a hint of edgy.

“I like simple, classically cut things, and I like to buy good quality clothes that can last,” Wina said.

When asked who some of her style icons are, Wina named actress Lupita Nyong’o, model Shala Monroque, and French women in general.

“Lupita is phenomenal. I love the way she puts herself together. It is not about showing off her body, but about wearing the garment in a certain way that is attractive for her,” Wina said.

Top and Pants: Marni

Sweater: Organics

Shoes: Stuart Weitzman

“I love his shoes because the leather wears to your foot, and it feels like I am not wearing shoes at all.”

Favorite color of nail polish: White

“It is a strong color, but it also looks very clean.”

Go-to necklace: Baroque Pearl Necklace

“I love baroque pearls. I have always wanted slightly off-color pearls, not perfectly white. I like the fact that they are irregular.”

Ring: The ring that Wina wears on her right hand is made up of five smaller diamonds and two larger ones. The two larger diamonds were earrings that she said she never wore, so she had them inserted into the band with the other five stones, which are family heirlooms.

Glasses: Eyebobs

Wina said the bamboo frames caught her eyes while at the Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising (FIDM). She said that she loved the natural look so she ordered them for herself.

Watch: Bertolucci

She said she likes this watch because it is both silver and gold so it is versatile.

Bracelet:  A piece with a magnetic clasp that she got in Munich, Germany.
