Middle School Council hosted its annual bake sale during A period and lunch on Monday, Apr. 16, raising $485 to support this year’s Aqua Day, the Middle School’s end of the year party, which features aquatic sports, activities and games on Booth Field and in Caldwell Pool.

Students in 7th through 9th Grades sold delectable desserts, ranging from lemon bars and cream puffs to triple fudge brownies and red velvet cupcakes. 85 percent of all the baked goods sold were homemade, according to 8th Grade Level Dean and Middle School Activities Coordinator Regina Rosi.

Middle School President Julia ’15 said the cake pops, which sold for $2 each, were the most popular snack among the students.
Rosi said she had worked with Council for the past month, planning the bake sale to maximize profits. Organizing and executing the bake sale for the first time was eye-opening, according to Rosi.

”I never administered a bake sale before, so it was pretty interesting to see how girls spend their money and what their preferences are,” Rosi said.

In addition to a proliferation of baked goods, Middle School Council auctioned off five raffle baskets to students and faculty, in a manner similar to Winter Fest. Each basket had a different theme, including “Gift Card Madness,” which contained iTunes and Starbucks gift cards; a “Rock It Girl” basket, with a Roxy wallet inside; and a “Pretty In Pink” deluxe prize, encasing a perfume set. Council also gave away a “Luxury Package” with bath products from Sephora and a cell phone purse from Juicy Couture, as well as a “Health and Wellness Trio,” including a signed copy of The End of Illness by author David B. Agus.

Jenna ’17, Ava ’17, Sophie ’17, science instructor Lisa Ellis, and Anna  ’17 won these prizes.
