The Boy Who Lived

The release of the next and final installment of the wildly popular Harry Potter movies is on Jul. 15, and there are already Marlborough girls getting their wands ready. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will conclude the groundbreaking series by author J.K. Rowling, who, due to the Harry Potter franchise, is listed as the second richest woman in entertainment, behind only Oprah.

“I think at one point everyone wanted to go to Hogwarts,” Devon ’12 said as the junior class watched one of the movies in the Collins Room one day.

For Marlborough girls, and millions of others around the world, Harry Potter is not just the boy who lived, but a notable part of our generation. All of the books have been #1 bestsellers, and in the first 24 hours of it’s release, Deathly Hallows sold over 8.3 million copies in the United States alone. One can only imagine the number of die-hard Harry Potter fans who will line up to see the midnight showing of the movie. We’ll just have to wait and see.
