Waterpolo team created for 7/8 grade
For the first time in the school’s history, Marlborough has introduced a competitive 7/8 water polo team for the winter season.  The athletic program hopes to eventually launch a varsity team.Water polo will enhance Marlborough’s already strong athletic program, Athletic Director David Collicutt said.   “It’s an extremely popular sport, and nationally, Southern California dominates that trend,” Collicutt said. SEE FULL STORY

Sophomores sleep with the fishes

Sophomores will spend the night with polar bears and penguins on Jan. 24.

Last summer the tenth grade council began discussing an overnight class bonding trip, and in September, it decided on SeaWorld as the destination. Council has been planning the trip in secret ever since.

The idea was approved because “the school’s administrators thought it was a good thing,” said grade level leader Dr. Thomas Millar.

Millar said the administrators admired council’s planning because council responded well to meetings and calls, so there was a willingness to allow the trip.

Council said it posted “teaser fliers” around school to hint at the coming surprise, but otherwise kept it secret.

“[Council felt] that during this time of the year, early January, the tenth graders need a chance to breathe,” said secretary/treasurer Christina.

WRITERS WRITES:

The Writers Guild of America strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, fighting for a share of the money earned from “new media” outlets. The strike is in its ninth week.
