Lifetime Violet

remembered

When Nancy Omohundro Long ’54 passed away on Feb. 21, 2008 at age 70, Marlborough lost a woman described by friends as committed, funny and loving.

After graduating from Marlborough in 1954, Long went on to earn a degree in accounting at UC Berkeley, then worked as a business administrator for several years before retiring and concentrating on community service. That work included volunteering with the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic Association, for which she served as president from 1982-1983.

In 1986 she returned to Marlborough to serve as the assistant to then Head of School Robert Chumbook. In an interview with the middle school newspaper “The M” last year, Long said she initially intended to take the job for a short time as a way of reentering the working world.
