Creative costumes take to runway

Rose ’11 and Ellie ’13 are two girls who went to extreme measures to make sure their Halloween costumes were not the typical pre-packaged Aahs ensemble. They decided to take matters into their own hands, using household materials to design and create their costumes.

Rose, anxious to stand out amongst the sea of cats, Disney princesses and pirates, used a cardboard box she found two days before Pumpkin Day and painted it to create a wearable stoplight headpiece. She glued colored construction paper to plastic cups to make the “lights.” She then fitted the piece to the size of her head.

Pumpkin Day mixes tradition, clowning

All-School council had a surprise in store for the student body on Pumpkin Day. Tommy the Clown and the rest of his dancing crew performed a crump show in the gym and encouraged Marlborough girls to show off their moves.  Tommy was hired in place of the traditional junior-senior rivalry, and helped to exhibit class spirit.

The junior and senior class councils coordinated a new theme of class spirit instead of the usual intense competition between classes. They agreed to make this year’s end of the Pumpkin Day parade about the whole school instead of
