Head of School Barbara Wagner is at home and feeling better daily, she said in a recent interview with the UltraViolet.
Wagner underwent unexpected emergency surgery to repair a brain aneurysm on Oct. 10, and has since been in recovery. She does not yet know when she will return to school, she said.
There have been no major changes to construction or any other important projects as a result of Wagner’s absence, said Upper-school Director Laura Hotchkiss.
Wagner said that she is eager to re-join the daily life of the school.
“I’m not a sidelines kind of person,” Wagner said.
Still, she has thought about what changes she may have to make going forward.
“I work hard, and I take pride in working hard,” Wagner said. But “when you have something like this, some of the recovery process is putting your priorities in order.”
A few less important projects may have to be postponed, Wagner said. For example, one accreditation committee which Wagner had planned to form this year will be delayed.
Wagner said her most important concern throughout her recovery has been the students.
“That priority won’t change at all,” Wagner said. “If anything, I just feel it more strongly.”
