Students dig ceramic skulls

Guest artist, Sierra Pecheur, came to campus five times in October to do her workshop, “Dig: An Imagined Archeo-logism,” with ceramics students.

In her “Excavation Workshop,” students created small clay relics - artifacts which became part of an archeological dig site.  Pecheur specializes in hand building skulls and works with porcelain, using a rutile overglaze to give her pieces a fossil-like feel. Pecheur wanted students to ponder how they would want to be remembered, by creating relics which they value. The students installed the dig site in front of the modular village. It will be up until Nov. 7.
